Disclaimer
Please read this before using anything on this site. By using Bull Rhythm you accept it.
Educational use only
Bull Rhythm publishes the results of fixed, rules-based stock-selection strategies for education and research. Nothing on this site is investment, financial, tax, accounting or legal advice, and nothing here is a recommendation, solicitation or offer to buy, sell or hold any security or to adopt any strategy. Bull Rhythm does not know your circumstances, goals or tolerance for risk, and nothing here is tailored to you.
Not an adviser
Bull Rhythm and its authors are not registered investment advisers, broker-dealers or financial planners, do not manage money for others, and are not paid by any company whose shares appear here. The authors may or may not hold any security mentioned, at any time, without notice.
A regular, impersonal publication
Bull Rhythm is a publication. The website and the Bull Rhythm Weekly newsletter offer the same general, impersonal information to every reader, published on a regular schedule (the site after each trading day, the newsletter every Friday). They describe rules-based model portfolios after the fact; they do not tell any reader what to buy or sell, and they are never written for, or adapted to, any particular person. Bull Rhythm does not answer requests for personal investment advice and is not paid by any company to mention its shares.
Conflicts of interest
The owner and authors of Bull Rhythm may hold, buy or sell, for their own accounts, securities that appear on this site or in the newsletter, including the same stocks the model portfolios hold, at any time and without notice, including before or after publication. Their positions may differ from, or be opposite to, the model portfolios. Treat everything here with that in mind.
Hypothetical results
Every result on this site is hypothetical. No real money is traded.
- Backtest. Results up to each strategy’s go-live date come from applying the rules to past prices after the fact. The rules were chosen after studying that same history, which tends to make backtests look better than the future will be. Backtests benefit from hindsight and cannot account for every real-world factor.
- Forward test. Results after go-live are a model portfolio decided each day from that day’s data and published without revision. It is still a model, not a real account.
- What real trading would change. The model assumes trades at the closing price, fractional shares, a cost of 0.10% on each purchase and sale, and no taxes, and it ignores dividend withholding, borrowing, account minimums, bid-ask spreads beyond that cost, and the effect of your own orders on prices. Real results would differ, possibly by a lot.
- Starting later. Someone who begins following a strategy on any given day will get different results from the record, because entry prices and timing differ.
Risk
Investing in stocks involves risk, including the loss of some or all of the money invested. Momentum strategies can fall sharply and suddenly: every strategy here has lost roughly 35–50% from a high at some point. Some strategies hold a few stocks in very large amounts, which adds to the risk. Past performance, simulated or real, does not guarantee or predict future results.
